Aside from an easy way to get pick-pocketed, you should never sit on your wallet because it can cause pelvis misalignment. This can lead to sciatica, degenerative disc disease, and pain. Men, if you are currently being adjusted by a chiropractor, sitting on your wallet will not allow for your adjustments to “hold” very long. If you are not currently being adjusted by a chiropractor and you continue to sit on your wallet, you might as well ask a friend for a referral. You will soon need one.
There are many reasons our spines become misaligned, let’s not add another that can be easily avoided. Bad sleeping position, sitting too long with poor posture, slips and falls, and yes ladies, even carrying a heavy purse on one side over and over. If you carry a heavy bag or purse, you should definitely learn to carry it by alternating each arm. Remove your wallet if you will be sitting on it for longer than 15 minutes at a time. This will help keep your pelvis and low back in the proper position. Less pressure through joints and discs is always a good thing. Need some extra motivation? Speak to someone with a history of low back pain or sciatica.
Easy. Remove it from your back pocket and put it in the front. If you have a Costanza-sized wallet, consider a new card-holder style – you really don’t need all that stuff you have in it anyway. You could also just take your wallet out of your pocket every time you sit down. Although, I cannot in good conscience fully endorse that advice. I don’t want to be the one responsible for you forgetting to pick it back up. 😊
Do your back and health a huge favour,
